On Saturday, members of ShaleTest traveled to Austin to graciously accept the 2012 Environmental Justice award from the Lone Star Sierra Club.  We received this award for collecting environmental data and providing testing to lower income families and communities negatively impacted by natural gas exploration. In just two short years, and with limited funds, ShaleTest has been able to provide environmental testing for over 60 families. We are humbled and proud to receive this award.

We’d also like to congratulate ShaleTest advisor, Sharon Wilson with Earthworks, who won the Special Service Award. Sharon’s honored for her influence within Texas, the nation and internationally as an expert on the effects of Hydraulic Fracturing, “fracking”, on people, their land, their water and air.
